The last news blog

Hi everyone This will be the last news blog from this website in its current form. In a few days, the website will revert to a free site and I don't know how much of it will remain. I do hope most if not all pages will remain but there is a big restriction on how much data we can store so I'm certain that new pages won't be possible. There will be a link from our Skyrim Red Shirts website to this in its new form. To recap, the reason it's going is due to the cost for me personally. Like everyone else, I am feeling the cost of living rising and I can't justify having this website when only a handful of people ever visit it. The drop-off in fleet membership activity over the last 2 years has been remarkable. Thinking about it I think it was dropping off before 2020 but Covid gave it a boost due to people being stuck at home. Once Covid was over and people went back to work the population plummeted. We were unable to even get a full team for our special events, such as Jem'Hadar Week or Romulan Week, even with some very expensive and brilliant prizes. Most of the time I log in nowadays and there are barely 5 people out of over 1000 accounts logged in. Quite often I'm completely alone. That's why I no longer feel it's a good use of my money to keep this website up and all activities now will be on our Discord. So if you want to join in the fun either here on STO or join our active and growing group on The Elder Scrolls Online please do NOW join our Discord, there will be no further blogs about this so now's the time to join us. The latest update from STO is out and it's pretty bare bones to say the least. One mission which by all accounts is quite good (I've not been able to play it yet, we tried to play it together on Tuesday as a fleet but only one person gets the dialogue so we had to cancel that, so much for being an MMO when the missions are written for single players). And one TFO. The TFO is ok but it's basically Synth Wave with a Borg cube. There are some nice recordings from the show sprinkled in but it could have been so much more. The introduction of elite random queues is a great addition although I am surprised they included Korfez in that list LMAO. They are also rewarding full elite rewards even if you fail, AND the reward boxes contain the full component for the advanced consoles, not one-fifth as they used to so the market for components has crashed meaning some people have lost a shit ton of EC, oh dear. We don't know if this was intentional but the devs haven't said anything so my guess is it's intentional. People were making too much from selling these consoles and could now generate wealth within the game from the game, enough to buy LB ships off the exchange. Cryptic wants people to gamble for them or to buy the keys/promo packs with Zen and sell them to get the EC for ships off the exchange, hence increasing their revenue. Just my 10 cents, maybe wrong but it's what I think has happened, if they revert the changes then you'll know I was wrong. So on February 3rd this website will disappear from srs-fleet.net and the URL will vanish entirely from sometime in June. I'm a bit sad about it but I had fun over the years and continue to have fun designing the ESO site which you can find here: https://www.skyrimredshirts.co.uk/

We've done a lot over the years, SRS was founded in June 2012 and here are a few things we've done: Created 14 fleets, 4 of which are Tier 5 Run over 15,000 missions

Introduced the MRP system with over 500 billion MRP points scored Added over 50 foundry missions for anyone to play Created a DPS league for 16 maps over 10 different build types including ground Held numerous special week-long events Given away about £4000 in prizes and more than 50 billion EC Created the Infographic Builds System to help anyone improve their builds in space and on the ground Added the STO exploration system, still the only database of its type and you can still look at it here:https://www.srs-fleet.net/srsexplorationsystem Added the VERTIGO system which is still in use by over 10,000 players Here are some memories: Created a BORG Liberation Game you can still play from this website here: https://www.srs-fleet.net/liberation Introduced a range of unique clothing (which I am wearing now)

And so much more, I could post a thousand images from over the years.

We will continue to have occasional events on STO and the DPS leagues are still active if anyone wants to have a go at breaking records. It all depends on what happens to STO in the next few years, it will either close down completely, stay as it is, or be bought up by someone who actually cares about Star Trek and reinvents it, I hope the latter and if that's the case you may well see srs-fleet.net back at some point in the future. Goodbye from srs-fleet.net see you on Discord. Matt Johnson
